Theophrastus Paracelsus (1493-1541)

Who wants to know man, has to see him in its complex and not like a structure put on the better way.
If he finds a sick part of the body, he has to seek the causes which produce such illness and not to limit himself to treat the external effects.

Foreword

Chapters 3-4, abstract from the book “Interferenze orali nelle sindromi cranio-mandibolari-cervicali e posturali”.

In order to formulate a diagnosis, the practitioner requires a great deal of subjective and objective information.

Three approaches can be used to formulate a diagnosis:
  1. collection of subjective (medical history) and objective (examination) information
  2. diagnosis by exclusion of other pathologies
  3. diagnosis using the ex adiuvantibus approach (that can be proven and that can contribute; for example, if you have X disease and you take anti-allergy medication and this medication cures the illness, you presume you have an allergy).

All three approaches must be used and integrated with consolidated clinical experience, as it is only at the end of a correct diagnostic pathway that the most appropriate therapeutic pathway can be undertaken.
